Alison had a birthday and is now out of her terrible twos. I have been drilling this information into the girl's head. She needs to understand that it is now time for her to "put her terrible-twoish things away" and unpack her three year old things—we hope the package is filled with much communication and far less tantrums.
Alison wanted a My Little Pony cake for her birthday, so I decided I would dust off my old cake decorating utensils and try to make her a pony cake. When you gaze at the cake, you might wonder why the pony is on a brown background. Maybe you are thinking, "That pony is prancing in its own poo" (hypothetical quote from my brother; only, he wouldn't use the word "poo"). Well, I wanted to use a chocolate cream cheese frosting, and I didn't take the time to ponder the color implications. My attempt at decorating wasn't the only one. James also focused his creative energies and created some beautiful wall art: two hearts and a birthday goat with a party hat.

For her birthday, Ali wanted many pink things. She even wanted pink ice cream. I told her pink is not a flavor, and she said, "It's my color." In the end, we had Neapolitan ice cream, and she only ate the pink kind. For presents, she received a My Little Pony car with a mommy pony and a baby pony. The baby has a car seat, but there are no seat belts. Must have been an oversight on the part of Hasbro. She also got a Barbie baby doctor that included two newborn babies and many tiny accessories—two of which have now entered the Laub Toy Black Hole and will never be seen again. She also picked out a new church dress, and the dress came with a matching dress for her doll. From the Primary/Bishop, she received a teddy bear, which she cuddled all the way home from church.
Her favorite present was a pink camera with flowers. We have to lock the bathroom door to keep the new paparazzi-in-training from catching too candid of pictures.
