For Halloween this year, the kids chose the following themes: safari, tutu princess, and animal. James selected the safari theme because of his interest in wild life. Alison couldn't decide between being a ballerina and a princess, so she spliced them together. Phil defaulted to a lion costume because one was available. Below are pictures of each child modeling his/her festive wear.
Safari Man
James is sporting a cheaply made safari vest from the toy department at Meijer's, but the binoculars are authentic Bushnell ($10), which can provide a safari man hours of nature viewing if he looks through the proper end. James's pith helmet is durable plastic, and his socks are borrowed from the Michael Laub Fall Collection.
Rainbow Tutu Princess
Alison looks colorful, yet regal, in her rainbow tutu. She's added bright pink sparkle tights for warmth, with the extra benefit of super speed on bounce house slides (she slides so fast those colors blur—you'd swear you saw the aurora borealis). She's topped off the ensemble with a princess crown, and she's bottomed off the ensemble with her tappa-tappa shoes (sadly, they don't tap, but she likes to call them tappa-tappa shoes anyway).
Lion in Fall (Not Winter)
Phil is king of the Trunk or Treat parking lot in his fierce, but cozy, attire. With his full, fluffy mane, Phil has the confidence and pride to keep all of his subjects in line and the courage and determination to take his candy tantrums to epic levels.
